While we wait for time machines to be created, we can trust typography to give us a much needed nostalgia dose. Channeling the brutal arenas of Mortal Kombat, like the legendary “The Pit,” Kintaro embodies the sharp, angular aesthetic of pixelated fighting game memories. The nostalgic font your project needs.
The unique blend of gentle curves and bold strokes allows Kintaro to carve its own path in the crowded realm of didone and slab serif fonts. The interplay between the dramatic serifs and smooth curves fosters a visually captivating presence within the nostalgic font family.
“Pulled from our grainy memories of the hours we sank into Mortal Kombat, Kintaro is our newest release and one that will have you mashing your keyboard just to see each character”. – Rodrigo Fuenzalida, FragType
Besides being a devoted Mortal Kombat enthusiast, Rodrigo Fuenzalida has built a transcontinental career in design and typography. Born in Caracas in 1981, he graduated in Prodiseño design school in 2007 but this was only the beginning. His endless curiosity kept him constantly amplifying his typographic knowledge, taking him to places like the Museum of Contemporary Arts design department in Venezuela and more recently working alongside Pablo Impallari in Google Fonts, Aldo de Losa, and Rubén Fontana.
Between Venezuela, Argentina, Chile and Portugal, Fuenzalida keeps standing out in the type design world, currently working independently for various clients like Google Fonts and Monotype, besides constantly collaborating with studios like InHouse and F37. His work has been highlighted by the Bienal de Tipos Latinos (2012, 2016, 2018), the Museum of Stamp and Design Carlos Cruz Diez and diverse publications from Slanted.
Kintaro packs a punch with its 6 weight options, offering an agile Light for finesse to a commanding Black for maximum impact. Unleash your creativity with Kintaro’s arsenal of alternate characters, crafting text combinations that land a knockout blow in any design battle.
