MOSS Objects is a german brand built on craftsmanship. They create custom, handmade luminaires with a supreme level of character and personality. Studio Gruhl was comissioned to create a visual identity that could match distinctive details carried in throughout their catalogue.

The design needed to feel just as elegant and artisanal, ready for the digital world while staying true to the physical objects that inspired it. Studio Gruhl’s solution was a comprehensive system, extending to a full art direction project.

Built for Flexibility

 

The custom logotype for Moss explores serifs and angles, resulting in a sharp and dynamic mark. The design plays with letter sizes, adapting their parts to mantain a logical flow while remaining consisting with the trace. This logo is designed to be flexible. It works seamlessly alongside the variety and evolving nature of the Moss brand. It’s an understated but powerful mark that speaks to the brand’s core values of personality and detail.

A bright design system

 

Studio Gruhl created a visual playground that feels native to the brand by extracting geometric shapes from the designs of the lamps themselves. The shapes are used to build connections and create patterns, combined with a rich color palette, that also evokes light and shadows through the careful use of gradients. This complete universe is visible in their website, digital applications for social media, and physical products like packaging for the items in the MOSS catalogue.
